Family Time in Korea

The best part of being in Korea was being together as a family.  We had so much fun exploring, seeing the sites, experiencing the culture and sometimes, just hanging out in the apartment.  It was great to see how attached Alden became to his Daddy while we were there.  When we first got to Korea Alden was a little shy around Drew but by the end Alden would cry and give me sad faces whenever Drew left, and he would get so excited and happy when Drew came home.  They loved their play time and cuddle time together and made such a cute little pair.  Whether they were cuddling, watching music videos, dancing, practicing soccer, playing with bubbles or just being goofy they always had a fun time together.  Here are some pictures taken when we were just hanging out as a family.

On the last Sunday I was there, Alden and Daddy had fun cuddling while Alden watched some videos.

Drew seriously loved the cuddle time that he got.

Once they were done watching videos they started chasing and tackeling each other.

I got pulled into the middle of part of it.

Alden thought this was so funny when he would just put his hand up to try and stop Daddy from getting him.

Alden loves to play with pens which is something we have to watch out for because he knows how to take the tops off and has written on himself a couple times.  But, mostly he just thinks it is fun to poke people with the pens.

Of course, bubbles are always a fun thing for us to play with.  Alden would get so mesmerized by the bubbles and he really enjoyed trying to pop them.  Here is a cute little video of Alden trying to pop the bubbles.

Another thing Alden liked to do around the apartment was take Daddy's hat and put it on.  It was so cute!

These were taken a day or so after Alden learned how to climb on this chair and as you can tell, he was very excited.

Alden and I have so much fun playing!

Alden drinks a lot of water everyday so he ofter carries his water bottle and it often becomes a toy when he is done.

So, Drew and I made these chocolate cake balls for dessert one night but we weren't giving any to Alden because they were chocolate.  He got a cracker instead.  Well, apparently we have a smart child because he went into the kitchen and pulled the plate of these off the counter so that he could eat them.  He thought they were really yummy (of course).  Whoops!  Apparently I need to watch where I put everything now!

Alden enjoyed his cake ball.
Alden and I have a fun time together during the day.
One of Alden's favorite things to do in Korea was pull all of his clothes out of his drawers and off the shelves and play with them.  Most of the time I remembered to keep the closet doors shut...but here was what happened if I forgot. Click here

Alden loved this little trumpet.  He was really good at blowing it and it was loud!

Alden's adorable smile and the teeth he had when we left Korea.

This evening we happened to watch "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown,"  which Alden enjoyed.  We had fun watching it together as a family, even if Alden did not actually want to sit down for most of the show.

We all had an amazing time being together in Korea and we are sad it is over but at least we made tons of good memories.  It was nice to see how attached Alden became to his Daddy in the three months that we were there.  Korea truly felt like home by the time that Alden and I left which made it a little harder to leave, but I think that that means we made the most of our time there.  Drew, Alden and I all had an amazing time this summer and I wouldn't trade the experiences that I had there for anything!  There might be one or two more blog posts about Korea but otherwise I have posted about just about everything we did.  I hope you enjoyed it!

Family Dance Time

Almost every evening in Korea we had a little dance party right before Alden's bedtime to try and drain his batteries.  Alden loved listening to music and dancing to it which was so cute!  Sometimes we did other things like Drew would play "soccer" with Alden or they would just chase each other around but the majority of the time we put on music and danced.  Here are some video of clips of our time home in the evenings.

This was Alden's normal dance style that was really cute and a little funny.  He just does this little bounce.

This was really funny because Alden was doing his basic bouncing but then he also started falling a lot and I am not sure if he was doing it intentionally or not, but it was cute.

Alden also likes to "dance" with me and Drew.  Plus, we enjoy encouraging him to dance.

Here is a little clip of Alden and Drew just playing in the apartment one evening.

Here is another video of clip of Alden dancing to a song.  I love that Drew dances with him a little in the beginning and then that Alden does some funny rolling stuff.

I hope you enjoyed getting a taste of what we did.  We certainly had lots of fun playing and hanging out as a family.

Osan and Saturday

A couple days before I left (It is still hard for me to believe that I was still there less than a week ago)  we went down to Osan shopping area for the day.  We had fun walking through all the stores down there and looking at the interesting Korean merchandise one last time.  After walking around there we went back home for awhile and then went onto post to let Alden play on the playground and get some energy out after being on a bus and in a stroller for most of the day.  It was a fun day that wasn't too stressful or long right before leaving.

These are a couple pictures of the more run down areas in Osan.  In parts of the shopping area I feel like I took a wrong turn and I am in some back alley but it is just the way it is set up.

Alden had fun in the stroller watching everything around him and eating his snacks.

This is the main street in the shopping area.

Alden was tired when we got back on the bus because it was time for his nap but he stayed awake until we got home and then fell asleep.

I had fun watching the sun set at the playground.

It was dark by the time we left the playground but that also meant that it had cooled off a lot so we weren't hot on our walk back to the apartment.

It was a fun and memorable day.  We all had a blast being together and for us that was the best part of the day.  Just being together as a family and doing something fun!
