Alden's Birthday Party

I can't believe that Alden turned 4 this year!  Everyone told me how fast time would go but I am still constantly surprised with how true that is.  Due to the fact that we were moving so close to Alden's birthday we threw his birthday party a few weeks early, not that it mattered to him when we did it.  He was just happy to have a party and have all of his friends over.  It was also nice because we invited families to the party and so it gave Drew and me a chance to see all of our friends together again before we moved away.

We used Peanuts as the theme for Alden's party this year because he loves Snoopy so much!  This meant that I got to make Peanuts themed sugar cookies and a cake decorated with Snoopy's head.  Then, because Alden's favorite color is green he wanted green cupcakes.  We used our grill and made hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken and had plenty of fruit and vegetables, among other things.  We had a great time visiting with friends and Alden had a great time playing with his friends!

We mostly just let the kids run around and play and let the adults visit but we did have the kids do at least one game.  We had them play "pin the Woodstock on Snoopy."  The kids had to try and put Woodstock on Snoopy so that it looked like Snoopy was hugging Woodstock.  It was funny to see how turned around some of the kids got and it was even more funny that Alden didn't want to do it, after he was super excited to play before the party.  But, overall Alden love his party and had a really good time and so did we!

Here are the sugar cookies that I made for the party.  I made Snoopy, doghouses and then decorated circles like Charlie Brown's shirt.
Here is the cake that was super simple to decorate (because I had another idea in mind and then the piece I needed got packed the day before) and the green cupcakes that Alden wanted.
Here is Alden getting to blow out the candles on his cake!
Then Drew surprised me and had one of our friends bring my favorite cake, Angelfood with strawberries and whipped cream, so that everyone there could sing to me for my birthday too, which was in about a week.  I was very surprised but so grateful to my wonderful husband for thinking of doing this!
Here is another picture of the cake and the Snoopy poster onto which the kids had to pin Woodstock.
These were the goody boxes that the kids got to take home with them.  I had fun putting these together so that it looked like Snoopy was laying on his doghouse.  Alden loved these and was very determined to make sure he kept track of his little box.  We had a great time with amazing friends and I am so glad that we got to celebrate my little boy's 4th birthday!
