Because our boys were sick we avoided the water park for the most part because we didn't want to get other kids sick and Alden wasn't feeling well enough to enjoy it anyways. We took Alden to the water park on the first day we were there, before we knew he was sick, and he ended up shivering so badly that we only stayed for about 30 minutes. I felt really bad when we realized he was sick later!
However, we did make the most of the trip and we found other things for Alden to do when he was feeling well enough. They had an arcade to play at that Alden loved and they also had magic wands you could buy and then use to go on quests. Alden had a lot of fun walking around the hotel and finding things that he could make move, light up, or make noise with his wand. The quest kept us busy and Drew and I enjoyed it too!
It was a nice getaway for us where we could just enjoy time as a family and focus on bonding and spending time with our kids. It is too bad that the kids got sick but it just made us more determined to find a way to go back there sometime.
All my boys with their wolf ears on, ready to start exploring.
Alden was so excited to wear his wolf ears and pretend to be a wolf!
Anders had fun riding around in the stroller while watching Alden play with his wand.
This was part of the quest. Alden had to collect things from around the hotel on his wand and then go to a spot to return them.
Between all the quests you had to go visit a tree and see what the next quest required of you.
Alden had a lot of fun with his wand!
Alden and Daddy had a great time playing with his wand!
Drew had fun supervising and helping Alden figure out what to do.
Alden loves arcades and so he had a great time playing some of the games in there!
Drew always tries at least one of the claw-hand games.
Drew, Alden and I had fun playing this one together multiple times because you just got to throw balls at the screen to hit different items.
Alden played this game a bunch! It only cost 1 token so it was cheap and just his size.
Here is a video of Alden whacking the aliens. Some of them were broken but he didn't seem to care.
Alden had fun making friends with this giant bear.
Alden and Anders got little prizes from the arcade. Anders got a green butterfly and Alden got a little pull-back motorcycle.
Alden finding a treasure chest and a fairy in a cage for his quest.
Alden started getting tired at this point so Daddy had to help him a little more. We started carrying him and even took him back to the room for a nap.
We ended up going back to the arcade for a little bit after Alden had rested.
We all had fun trying to roll the balls.
We also discovered that Alden really enjoys air hockey! He also does pretty well considering that he is barely tall enough to play on his own.
He was so focused and I loved how he kept sticking his tongue out.
Here is a cute video of Alden playing air hockey.
At Great Wolf Lodge they also do story time in the evening so we took the boys down to that before they went to sleep.
Alden had a good time listening to the story and watching a little musical show before it. We had a great day spending time together! It was a lot of fun and I am just sad that Alden was not feeling a little better so that he could enjoy it more.
Bummer your boys got sick - but don't worry. We'll go back with you!
