The Nurshery

So I have done a lot of work on the nursery since we moved into our house.  Honestly I have been working on making the room look nice since we moved in.  I have painted the room, added chair railing, had blinds put in (thank you Dad and Erik), made decorations for the room and got it set up for Anders.  Finally, it is mostly done and I am really proud of the way some of my projects turned out.  These are some pictures of the room before and after.

Here is what the room looked like when we first moved in...not organized or pretty.
This was after I had organized the room a little bit but I was in no rush to get it ready because I wasn't expecting yet.
A few months before Drew deployed I decided I wanted to do chair railing around the nursery.  I got the moulding and cut and stained it in the garage because I wanted to try to get it up before he left...yeah we only got one piece up before he left.  I got the majority of it up while he was gone and then when he got back from the deployment (10 months later) we finally got the rest of it up.  That is what happens when I start a project that I can't finish by myself.
However, I did cut it all and have it ready to be nailed up on my own.

I had these large wall paper images of Winnie the Pooh and friends that I wanted to hang in the nursery.  However, I didn't want to put them directly on the wall with how much the army has us moving.  So, I got a large sheet of plywood and cut pieces to the right shape to fit the cutouts.  I then painted and sealed the front of the plywood before adhering the wallpaper cutouts.  I also used a moulding around the edge of the plywood to give it a more finished look.  I spray painted the moulding (well my mom did it for me because I was 36 weeks pregnant) and then adhered it with gorilla glue to the edges of the plywood.  I then attached hanging wires across the back of the plywood with felt and gorilla glue.
I thought they ended up looking pretty nice.
So I painted the room with green on the bottom and then a light brown on the top and then hung the chair moulding.  I then hung all the decor that I made for the room and the decor that I had from when Alden was a baby.

Anders crib and one of my favorite quotes.  I painted this piece of plywood like the others and then applied the vinyl quote.
The other side of the room with the other two wallpaper hangings that I made.
I have to admit that I really liked the way they came out, especially because I was improvising on how to make them.
This is the closet and the last piece of decor in Anders' room.  This wall hanging is actually a latch hook rug that I was given as a Christmas gift when I was around 13 years old.  It took me over ten years to finish it but it is finally done and hanging on Anders wall.
