Oregon Beach

A couple weeks before Drew left we went down to Portland for a weekend to visit Drew's cousin.  It was really nice to get away from Washington for a couple days and be able to relax and have fun with family.  While we were there we went and visited one of the beaches which was a lot of fun.  Alden's favorite thing was the rocks (no surprise) and throwing them in the ocean.  We did manage to get Alden to put his feet in the water but he did not really like it.  We had fun building a fire, cooking hot dogs and smores and helping the kids build a sand castle.  It was a really fun day.

Alden went to explore up near the water with Jessie.
Aaron wrapped up in his towel to keep warm.
This is one of the times Alden got caught by a wave and Jessie had to help him away from the water so that he wouldn't freak out.
Drew, Aaron and Alden all eating their snacks together.
Aaron had a lot of fun playing in the waves!
The kids all had fun filling the bucket with sand and water to try and help make a sand castle that didn't really work out.  But the kids had a lot of fun trying!

The men building the fire.

Alden didn't like the fact that sand kept getting under his foot in his sandal...the hazards of the beach.

We were really happy to get to make this trip together as a family.

The beach really was pretty and the weather wasn't too bad and it wasn't too crowded.
Alden loved climbing in the rocks and finding good ones to throw.  We had to teach him where he could throw them so he didn't hurt anyone but he figured it out pretty fast.
Our little set-up...we kept trying to keep the wet, sandy kids off of the blanket but it didn't work very well.
Alden had a lot of fun helping to bury Aaron in the sand.  We had a really fun day and enjoyed all the time that we got to spend with this wonderful family.
