We had a really fun day and I was impressed with how both of our boys did for the most part. Alden had a lot of fun running around at Fort Casey and looking at the old military base. Drew and I were happy to be together and exploring somewhere new again. We had amazing weather that made exploring outside really pleasant. We also enjoyed seeing more of Washington and enjoying the beautiful coastal views near the lighthouses. Anders was just content to be along for the ride.
Alden waiting to go up to the top of the first lighthouse and then climbing the stairs up to the top. He was very good at holding on to the handrail.
This is a picture of the ferry we would take a little later and Drew and Anders at the top of the lighthouse.
Alden loved pointing out things to us that he could see such as birds, boats, water among other things.
Anders with his squinty little face because it was a little bright out.
This is the building right next to the lighthouse, I think it is the lighthouse keeper's house.
This was the lighthouse. I thought it was really cute.
I love this. I asked Alden to stand for a picture with Daddy and Anders but he said no. Instead he wandered off to find this triangle that he could ring. It was really cute!
There were other displays in buildings near the lighthouse that Alden had fun looking at.
A little school boy at his desk.
Another time we asked Alden to pose for a picture with Mommy and he didn't want to.
Next we went to wait for the ferry over to Whidbey Island and it was a bit of a long wait so Alden kept us entertained by singing, talking, playing with some random stickers that he got and telling us that we needed to hurry up. Here is a video of him waiting.

I was feeding Anders on the ferry ride so Alden got to walk around a little bit with Daddy.

This was our view looking back at Mukilteo.
Daddy and Alden enjoying the ride together!
Next we went to Fort Casey where we visited Admiralty Head Lighthouse. I was the only one to actually go all the way to the top here, well me and Anders because he was in a carrier. There was a really steep ladder at the top that Alden and Drew were not very keen on climbing together.
It was a gorgeous view from the top.
Me looking down on Drew and Alden from the top and you can see the stair case that we didn't really want to maneuver with Alden.
Look, Alden actually smiled for a picture with me!
After seeing the lighthouse we just started walking around and exploring more of Fort Casey.
There were gorgeous views there! I loved walking around and taking in the sights.
So pretty! I liked Drew's comment that he wouldn't mind being stationed somewhere like this. Although for now I just love that we live close enough to places like this that we can visit on weekends.
Drew and Alden had so much fun playing in these trees. Alden liked playing his own version of hide and seek as you can see in the video above.
My amazing husband that I am so lucky and grateful to have.
For some reason Alden found this rock very interesting.
This used to be a coastal artillery base and they still have some guns out on display that Alden was excited to see.
Daddy and Aden looking at the guns together.
I thought this was funny. I asked Alden to pick any spot he wanted to have his picture taken with Daddy and this was where he wanted it. Standing on the concrete block in the middle of nothing. At least it was a very picturesque background.
Looking back at Admiralty Head Lighthouse.
The coastal artillery base.
Alden and Daddy looking at another one of the guns up close.
Drew was really good at holding Alden's hand which was good because there were a lot of big drop offs.
Exploring the underground part of Fort Casey. Alden thought it was spooky. It probably didn't help that there were teenagers making weird noises down there. You can watch this video if you want to see what I mean.
He was very determined in where he wanted to go and would pull Daddy with him. We are trying to get him to use words a little better.
To finish off our wonderful day, Alden got pancakes for dinner. He couldn't ask for anything better! It was a great first day of our trip!
