Victoria- Beacon Hill Park Walk

After visiting the castle we drove over to Beacon Hill Park again so that we could just enjoy a nice walk and be outside. We went to the petting zoo in the park that was really nice because it was free and there were animals that Alden could see up close and he loved it.  Then we ended up just walking in a random direction and eventually found ourselves in another park that had a path leading along the edge of the island, right next to the water.  It was a really pretty walk and it took us along a more residential part of Victoria that was cool to see.  I love getting out of the tourist areas when we travel and seeing other parts of the city which was part of why I enjoyed this walk so much.

After we walked through the park we let Alden play on the playground for a little bit and he had a great time.  He played with some other kids there and loved the "car" that was there.  After playing we went to dinner somewhere where Drew could get a dish called "poutine" which, from what I understood, was french fries covered in gravy and cheese. It is a Canadian dish that Drew had been told to try if he ever made it to Canada so he finally got to.  We had an awesome evening together!

This pig was about a week away from having her babies according to the sign they had out. She looked so uncomfortable!
Alden loved seeing all the different birds.

The guinea pigs were fun to watch and I loved their names.  If you can't read the sign below, all of the guinea pigs names came from Harry Potter.

Alden and I went into the pen where they had goats that we could pet.  The babies were super cute and sweet!  Alden loved getting to pet the goats and I was actually very impressed with how gentle he was around them.

This is one of the largest totem poles in the world. (on the right)
It was so pretty out by the water! The weather was also really nice for this walk.

Alden jabbered away for most of the walk and it was so cute hearing him tell me about everything that he saw.

Alden had so much fun at the playground!
This was Drew's poutine at dinner.
Alden just had a side of grapes for dinner but it was funny because he would not eat them unless they were on his fork.  It took him a really long time to eat his dinner but we didn't mind and he was trying to use utensils which was cute. The other thing that happened at dinner was that another little boy at a table nearby decided he wanted to share his truck with Alden and brought it over to him so that he could play with it (you can see the truck in one of the pictures).  Alden loved playing with that truck and was really good at giving it back when we were done.
