Gingerbread House Building

This year Alden really wanted to build a little Gingerbread village and he helped me pick out the kit at the store.  I also let him pick something to send to Daddy and he really wanted to send Daddy a gingerbread house kit too so we sent him one identical to ours.  It is fun to look at the pictures from both Alden and my houses and Daddy's.  Alden had fun helping put the candy on the houses although he did want to eat quite a bit of it.  His favorite thing to eat was the gummy Christmas trees and I think he managed to sneak three of them.  Alden and I had a lot of fun building our houses and I am glad that Drew got to distantly be a part of one of our Christmas activities.

I built the basic houses and then let Alden decide how to decorate them.
Alden was very careful and deliberate about how he wanted to decorate his houses.
Putting individual sprinkles on his house. He did all of them individually and it took him awhile to figure out that he had to push the sprinkles into the frosting to get them to stick but he figured it out eventually.  Here is a video of the beginning of that process.

Sneaking his Christmas Tree candy...Here is a video of it.
These were our finished houses...some of the Christmas tree candies survived to be put next to the houses.

These are Drew's pictures from building his gingerbread houses so that you can decided whose were the best!  (One of Drew's houses did get broken in shipping so he only has three instead of four.)
 Here are his starter houses.

I think he enjoyed putting lots of sprinkles on the roofs of the houses.
Drew with all of his completed houses!  Alden was so excited to send this to Daddy and let Daddy do something just like what we were doing!
Drew's Christmas decor, complete with a Christmas tree that I sent him.  Sorry he couldn't be here to decorate houses with us in person but so grateful for packages and pictures!
