I love getting to see the little animals and they always have baby piglets there that are adorable. This year we got to see piglets who were about 12 hours old, which was really neat. It was also fun watching Alden try new things and enjoy lots of rides. Anders was just a super happy baby all day which was nice and made it so we could stay all day at the fair. Drew had fun playing a few games, seeing all the exhibits and eating some yummy food. We all had a great time and I am so glad that we took the time to go and enjoy the experience of it.
We went and did the petting zoo first when it wasn't crowded.
Alden really liked all the animals, especially the bunny.
I thought the feathers on these geese were interesting.
Here are all the little baby piglets.
Alden really enjoyed getting to ride the little tractor again. It was fun to watch him as he figured out how to ride it a little better.
It was a little chilly when we first got there so we had Anders bundled up in the stroller.
Alden walking through one of the animal exhibits. Some of these birds had some interesting feathers.
Alden thought the bunny was cool.
Alden was so excited to get to see the giant draft horse.
Okay, this was funny. There was an exhibit hall with lots of exhibits on fishing, trapping, outdoor recreation, water conservation and such. Alden saw that there was a bucket of red vines on the ground in a metal cage and wanted to go get it. Well, little did he know it was a trap...and the door shut behind him. They had it set up so the door closed really slowly so it was totally safe but it was still pretty funny. Alden was definitely surprised and a little worried when the door shut but the man working the booth was very quick to let him out. He got to keep his red vine out the deal and was pretty happy about that.
He also got a bracelet from the water conservation booth and a little picture of a bear from the booth for Mount Rainier National Park.
These were fun to see inside the Fair Museum.
We got a little piece of fudge to share and Alden downed his portion in one bite.
Alden was so excited when we finally got to the rides and he could run around just getting on one after another.
He really liked the rides where he had a steering wheel, handle bars or a gun to hold on to.
He was so excited to ride the motorcycle.
He also got to play two games while we were here so he did this one first where he got to go fishing for an octopus with Daddy's help. He actually managed to catch two and he got a little stuffed hedgehog as his prize.
I was a little nervous to see if Alden would be okay going high by himself on a ride this year because he didn't really like it last year but he was fine. He loved making the helicopter go up and even came back to this ride again later.
Alden getting to "drive" a little race car around.
Then Alden made it back to one of his favorite rides from last year, the rockets with the gun mounted that he could shoot, and then he rode a new ride. Last year he had no interest in riding the alligators but this year he actually seemed to really enjoy it. I guess that just goes to show that he is growing up.
Anders was happy just sitting and watching everything from the stroller.
Another favorite of Alden's from last year...the boats. He was excited to get to ride in the boats but he didn't love it as much as last year.
Riding in his boat (yes he was getting tired) and then riding on the carousel with Mommy.
For lunch we had barbecue that was pretty good, especially considering that it was fair food.
Then we went to this show that was supposed to be a western gunslinger show or something like that.
It was a well done and funny production but a little loud for little kids because they used real guns with blanks.
Drew and I really enjoyed the comedic value of the show and found it very entertaining. Alden was fine once he was sitting on Mommy's lap with my hands over his years and Anders did not seem to care one way or the other. It was a fun stop in our day.
After the show we let Alden get back on some rides which he was totally excited about.
Then Alden and I got to ride down the giant slide together.
This is one of my favorite things to do at the fair with Alden and I promise he does enjoy it, even if his face doesn't show it. He says "weeee" the whole way down.
Drew and I found this really funny how it looked like Alden was trying to make the vehicle go faster by trying to rev the engine or something.
Alden and I went on the carousel together again which was fun.
I decided to try a couple of the big roller coasters by myself while Drew waited with the boys. I can't wait until Alden is big enough to do them with me! I hope he likes roller coasters even though his Daddy doesn't.
This is what Drew wanted as his treat from the fair and it was really yummy. Alden just wanted to eat the M&Ms off the outside at first but we finally got him to eat the apple.
Drew and Alden, enjoying their treat.
I know these aren't the best pictures but Drew was trying to document how much Alden was smiling on this little roller coaster. He was a little timid at first but he quickly warmed up to the ride and was saying "weee" on all the turns.
We all had a lot of fun at the fair...although Anders was starting to look a little tired at this point.
Alden actually cried on this ride last year because it scared him...not this year. He was all smiles and wanted to do it multiple times this year.
Anders is just so much fun. I had to take some pictures of his great smile while we were waiting for Alden to finish up one of his rides.
Okay and if fudge and a caramel apple weren't enough we also got mini donuts. No wonder Drew and I were ready for some fruit and veggies by the end of the day.
The mini donuts were really yummy and made for a nice snack.
Anders and I were enjoying the fair and just having fun walking around together.
Now Alden was really getting tired...
But he was still having fun!
At this point we told Alden he had to pick two more rides and then we were going to go walk around and see other things for a little bit before going home. These were the last two rides he chose.
Drew played a couple different games including this one and the one where you try to shoot out the star. It is fun to watch him try the games and then figure out all the ways that the game is skewed to give the advantage to the carnival/fair.
After he played a couple games we went and walked through the animals of the world exhibit to see some of the cool animals like the zebra and zedonk.
It was fun to see all the different horns on some of the animals.
This was an exhibit in the Hobby Hall where they had people's collections on display. This was a very extensive pirate collection. My question is where would you store all of this?
On our way out of the fair we decided to let Alden do a last ride or two to end his day. He wanted to go on the tiger ride again with Mommy which I was happy about. He even put his arms up this time and kept them up for the whole ride as he said "weee." It was really cute and a nice way to end the day!
