Dinner in Wilmington

After a fun day in Wilmington we decided to go for dinner out and enjoy more local cuisine.  We chose a place called the Boathouse Restaurant that served Calabash-style food.  This was new for me and Drew but it sounded interesting and the restaurant had good reviews.  We both really like trying local and unique cuisine when we visit places and this fit into that category for us.

It ended up being really good and it was a family friendly restaurant which is really important to us right now.  The calabash-style food was really good, but it is definitely not something that I could eat all the time.  I am really glad that we tried it and I would definitely eat it again at some point but I think eating it once a year is probably enough for me.  I am just don't enjoy eating fried food all of the time which is probably why this would not appeal to me on a more regular basis, but we still really enjoyed it!

Anders loved playing with the straw and chewing it up before our food arrived.
Alden was totally happy just drinking his lemonade and Anders enjoyed trying the hush puppies that were really good.
Drew and I both had a small bowl of clam chowder and then we split a large combination plate.  We got the crab cake, fried shrimp and fried flounder.  Drew got the potato salad side and I got the corn on the cob.  It was all very good and even though I am not normally a fan of fried food, I really enjoyed this dinner and I found everything to be delicious.  We were both really glad that we decided to go eat here.
