Anders had fun walking around and exploring and he loved sitting in the sand and making a mess. He really enjoyed throwing sand all over the place and even rubbing it in his hair. Anders also found that he liked walking around under some of the pier because there were little puddles he could play in there without having to get hit by the waves.
Alden enjoyed playing in the sand with Dad. Unfortunately, the sand at this beach was not very good for building sand castles but Alden figured out a new game that he enjoyed playing, it was called "Treasure Hunt." Pretty much, Alden would have Drew bury one of his toys in the sand and then he got to dig for it. It was cute to see Alden entertained by something so simple. We did wade in the water some, but we hadn't worn our swimsuits so we didn't go in too much. Both Drew and I wished we had all worn swimsuits when we got to the beach but we are so used to the beaches in Northern California and Washington that it is a little different for us to get in the habit of wearing swimsuits to the beach.
We lasted a little over an hour at the beach before we were too hot and decided it was time to head back to the hotel. Once we got to the hotel we decided to get in the pool there for a little bit to cool off. We had a nice time at the beach and it was very pretty but Drew and I agreed that we liked Myrtle Beach better. Maybe it was just the weather on the day we were there, but we also liked the sand better at Myrtle Beach. However, we were still glad that we went to the beach and it was a nice place to pass the time and enjoy the ocean.
Anders took off as soon as we got there to explore and look around.
He was a little unsteady walking on the sand, but that was not about to stop him.
We decided to just let him play in his onsie because he was getting so dirty and wet anyways.
He was so cute walking around on the beach!
He found this comfortable spot to sit in the damp sand and play.
He was totally happy picking up sand and throwing it around while he sat.
Drew and Alden started to dig for a toy that Drew had just buried.
Then Anders came to try and help too. However, I think Anders had more fun throwing the sand around than actually digging it up.
Alden still digging, trying to find his treasure.
He found it!
He was so excited to find his little green dinosaur...
But then he immediately wanted Dad to bury it again.
We had a nice morning at the beach and made some good memories together as a family. Our boys loved going to the beach again and it was fun to see how happy they were playing in the sand. I am really glad that we have the opportunity to live to close to the Atlantic Ocean for a little while.
