Jogyesa Temple

Yesterday afternoon we got to go visit two sites, the first of which being a Buddhist temple (I am going to post about them separately so you can go to my post on Deoksungung Palace for the other site).  Both of these sites are actually in Seoul and it only took us 20-30 min to get to them.  (They are both close to city hall and Seoul Plaza)

We went to Jogyesa Temple first which is supposedly the center of Zen Buddhism in Korea.  It was really pretty and nice but Drew's biggest comment was that compared to the other Buddhist temples he had been to it just didn't have a lot of land and areas to walk because it is located in the city.  I could take pictures everywhere there except for inside the temple so here are the pictures I have.

They had lanterns everywhere and I think it had to do with the fact that Buddha's birthday was last Friday.

This picture on the left shows the outside of the temple.

Alden slept the whole time we were at the temple and woke up right as we left.
They have these carvings of elephants at all the entrances from what I could tell.

The intricate designs on the outsides of the buildings were really neat.

 Turtle Lantern!

This park area was located behind the temple.

This was one of my favorite lantern designs under the archway.
