Lotus Lantern Festival

So on Saturday evening, we went and met up with some other families from the ward here to go to the Lotus Lantern Festival Parade which is held in honor of Buddha's birthday. We got there a little bit before the parade started and actually ended up with really good seats right on the curb.  Before the parade even started we had Koreans coming over and wanting to take pictures of the kids in our group because most of them were very Caucasian.  Alden honestly loved the attention and had fun smiling and laughing with anyone who wanted to talk with him.

The parade was a lot of fun to watch and had some really cool groups and floats.  The photos show the awesome things we got to watch!

Another temple near where the parade started.

Now that is an interesting hair piece.

These Taxis covered with balloons and lanterns started the parade.

Alden loved all the lights!

That flower opened and closed.

Korea's viersion of themselves in the world.

One of the highlights of the parade...Alden got to give a Buddhist monk a high five!

The other kids that we were with got given tons and tons of lanterns...They had a whole pile by the time that they left.

Alden wanted to play with the lanterns.

This was an awesome cultural experience that we all loved and it made us start to appreciate the Korean culture and what it has to offer.

  2. Korean parades look much better than American ones (mostly because of the lack of annoying firetrucks for half the parade haha). But it looks like you're all having fun and I love seeing pictures of you all together :) Can't wait to see more!
