Old Faithful was about to erupt when we got there so we waited to see that before we started hiking, which was really cool. We also got to see it again right before we left. The hike around the upper geyser basin was really interesting and had some awesome features. It was really neat to see all of the cool colors in different pools and see how diverse the features were. We all had a really fun time exploring and see a huge number of thermal features in a very short time.
Alden wanted to go be part of the Ranger activity when we first got there.
Anders and Daddy all set up to go explore.
My dad took some awesome pictures of some of the thermal features.
Here is Old Faithful.
If you want to see a video of it.
Anders thought Old Faithful was pretty cool.
There was a drastic change of landscape in a very short distance.
Our first wildlife sighting in the park. I think it is a marmot.
It was very interesting to see some grassy areas with steam rising out in spots.
Alden was a good hiker and enjoyed looking at everything.
Alden asked tons of questions about all the different thermal features and why they were there.
It really is a fascinating natural phenomenon.
I just loved seeing all the different colors.
I LOVED the clear blue pools. I thought they were gorgeous!
Hiking with my little lady!
I find it fascinating how the ecosystem ends up working in areas like this so plants and trees can still grow.
I think I made my mom and sister stop at the smelliest point of the whole trail to take a picture...
I know I have said it multiple times, but the diversity and drastic changes in landscapes so quickly astounds me.
Getting ready to watch Old Faithful again!
We had an awesome time exploring and seeing everything! It was a great start to our trip!
