Starting Vacation

Our Christmas vacation this year started off with a couple very long days of driving.  We knew this was going to be a lot of car time for the kids so we decided to give Anders his Christmas present early.  He got his own tablet for Christmas this year (as a kid who grew up in the 90s that sounds a little ridiculous to give a 2 year old a tablet but I guess times have changed) and he was ecstatic.  He has been watching his brother play on his for a long time now and so he was so excited to finally have his own.  We downloaded a bunch of movies and a couple games on his tablet and he was good to go for the long drive.

It was really nice because we got to break up our drive with a one night stay at my aunt and uncle's house so it was nice, comfy, homey and we didn't feel trapped in a hotel for the night.  It was also really nice to see them and let the kids have somewhere they could really play for awhile.  We are so glad that we got to start off the holiday vacation with good family time and I was so grateful that the tablet did it's job and the kids stayed happy for the majority of the 2 days driving!

She isn't quite sure what she thinks.
Alden loved playing with these Army men at my aunt and uncle's house.
My cousin taught him a little about them and then Alden kept lining them up and sorting them.  It was nice to see him able to relax and have fun between the driving days.
Back in the car and ready to get to California!
