A Rainy 4th of July

Okay, so I don't think that I have ever gotten as wet from rain as I did walking home from the 4th of July Barbecue on post.  Drew had to work on the 4th of July but we met up with him on post after work for what was supposed to be a huge 4th of July barbecue.  Unfortunately the weather did not quite cooperate for that.  When we first got there it was sprinkling just a little bit but nothing too bad.  We got some yummy food when we first got there and then decided to let Alden run around and play.  The funniest part about him playing though was that he refused to let go of his blanket.  Now, I wonder where he got that from?  His blanket was filthy after he ran all over the field with it so it was a good thing that I had the foresight to make multiple blankets exactly the same months ago.  (Actually that was really just luck but I would like to think that I planned it)

Towards the end of letting Alden play it started to rain harder and we decided we might want to think about going home, especially since it was a 30 min walk.  By the time we had actually started walking home it wasn't just raining, it was pouring.  It was raining so hard that some couple took pity on us and pulled over to give us an umbrella so that we could at least keep Alden dry.  It ended up that Drew carried Alden so they both stayed somewhat dry but I was soaked completely through within 5 min of walking so we decided we would walk the ten min to the taxi station and take a taxi the rest of the way home.  It did make for a memorable 4th of July.  After we got home we jsut had fun playing and then we got to watch the fireworks from our apartment window while staying dry.  Overall it was a very fun and memorable 4th of July.  Here are some pictures from that day!

You can see it has started to rain as Alden is getting wet in the picture to the right.
