Lotte World

We got to go visit one of the amusement parks in Seoul this week which was a lot of fun.  It was nice because over half of the park was indoors so that we were able to stay cool and dry for most of the time that we were there.  Lotte World, the amusement park, was really fun for us because there were a bunch of rides that Alden could go on and he really enjoyed most of them.  Here is our day in pictures and video.
The carousel was the first ride that we went on and Alden didn't really like it.  I felt bad but he was a good trooper and made it through the whole ride without fully crying.  This is a video of Alden when the carousel first started.  This video is of him not enjoying it.  Our poor little boy.
This was the third ride that we took Alden on and unfortunately he didn't like this one either.  He really didn't enjoy how bouncy the ride was.  Good thing he had Daddy to hold him and help him feel better.
We finally found a ride that Alden really liked.  There was a monorail that ran around the edge of the interior part of the amusement park that Alden enjoyed riding on with Drew and I.  That is where Alden and I are in the picture above.
There was a waterfall that we found a walkway behind and Alden loved watching it.
Drew and his adventurous snack that was pretty good.  We still don't know exactly what it was.
Okay, so I think that this was Drew's favorite ride of the whole day.  He loved driving bumper cars with all the Koreans because he felt like he could finally take out all of his frustration with the way that they drive. His frustration has built up since he got here.  Alden thought that it was funny to watch.

So, this is the outdoor portion of the park and as you can see we found a ride that Alden really liked.  He loved driving these cars!  He thought it was so fun that he got to spin the steering wheel.
This was a little train ride that we got to go on together that took us through the Korean version of candy land or something like that.  There was a cool tunnel with lights at the beginning that Alden liked.  Here is a video of it.
So I think this was either Alden's favorite or second favorite ride of the day (tied with the car ride).  The funny part about it is that Drew hates Ferris wheels but Alden loved this one!

Drew played a couple little games at the park.  In the first game Drew was trying to knock down targets and in the second one he threw darts at balloons.  (Oh, and he did hit more than two balloons, I just took the picture before he was done).
So Drew decided to take Alden on the car ride too.  Here is a little video of them.
 Lunch break.

On this ride we got to ride in one of these hot air balloons around the top of the indoor area.  It was a lot of fun and gave us a good view of the park.

Inside the hot air balloon.

We went to an interesting art exhibit in Lotte World in which Alden just wanted to push the stroller.

These are pictures of their parade that was actually fairly boring.  The entire parade was dancers in the same type of costumes all doing the same dance to the same music, over and over again.

This was an awesome playground for little kids that Alden loved.  There were tons of things for him to climb on, crawl through and sit on, plus there was a room full of balls that you could shoot out of air cannons or play with.  Alden was probably in there for an hour and probably would have liked to have stayed longer.
Here is a short video of Alden discovering something new.

This was the ball room that Alden loved.

Drew and Alden were playing peek-a-boo in this tree stump.

This was another car ride that Alden liked.  After all those rides and the playground Alden was tired.  While Alden was sleeping Drew and I took turns going on a ride that was a 4D shooting game.  We got to try and get rid of the monsters.  It was a fun and different ride from others that I have been on.

We went on a boat ride around the outdoor section of the park.  As you can see in the picture below, Alden did not enjoy it.  The funny part was that he cried again when we had to get off the boat.

But it was okay, we just found another fountain and Alden was perfectly happy again.

So, overall we had a great day at the park, even though we felt bad when Alden had his little sad moments.  We were just glad we found his favorite rides and we let him do all of those twice, so I think in the end even our little boy had a good day.  It definitely made me miss Disneyland (because it is so much better) but I was grateful for good family time.  Oh, and we found a Toys R' Us right outside the park and it was fun to walk through and see the difference between one here in Korea and one back home.  Mostly they are the same but there are some differences, like which things are expensive here compared to back home and the type of strollers and tricycles they sell to name a few.  It was a very fun and exciting day that left us all very tired by the end of it but it was well worth it for the experiences that we had.
