Alden's First Soccer Game

Alden has absolutely loved soccer so far this season. He is always asking if he can go play soccer and jumps and runs to get ready every time I tell him he gets to play.  He really enjoys having Daddy as his coach and he doesn't seem to mind that he is the smallest on his team.  He runs all of practice and games, which is nice because it wears him out.  I am loving all the opportunities I am having to watch Alden try new things recently.  Between soccer, gymnastics and preschool we stay pretty busy but I think it is good for him and he really seems to enjoy it.

Drew is having fun coaching, although he isn't always sure what to do with kids this young.  He is more comfortable coaching kids a couple years older but he is still having fun and he is getting the hang of it.  The most important thing is that the kids seem to be having fun!

This is where they practice and you can see the chaos of practice with thirteen 3-5 year olds.

Alden is neon orange this year and we were joking that his shirt would be really good if he got lost in the woods.  You can't miss him in it!

This was Alden's first time in the game.  He got to pick his number, so he is number 1.  It is usually pretty easy to find him on the court because he is so little. (The other team is red but the colors look almost the same in these pictures)
The game of bunch or swarm ball, depending what you want to call it.
Alden spent his entire time in the game chasing the ball and he did get to touch it a few times but he struggles to keep up because he is the shortest.  However, he doesn't care, he just thinks it is a ton of fun which is great!
Teaching the kids how to do high fives at the end of the game!

Alden is so excited for his next game on Saturday!

  1. Super cute! We titled it "cluster ball" when Aaron did soccer last year, haha!
