Alden had a lot of fun painting his entire pumpkin with different colors and then painted a small smiley face on it at the end when he saw Drew and I putting faces on ours. This was a really fun autumn/Halloween activity to do together. I am not always a super creative or artsy person but I do enjoy doing activities like this, especially now that Alden can do them too! I was also glad that Drew carved a pumpkin this year. I have to admit that I am not very good at carving pumpkins and it is not my favorite activity, but I love having a lighted, carved pumpkin on my doorstep for Halloween.
Here is Alden with all our pumpkins, ready to be decorated.
Drew and Alden starting on their pumpkins.
Alden was really excited to paint his pumpkin, with a brush. He just really wanted to keep his hands clean.
Anders enjoyed watching Daddy clean out his pumpkin.
Alden painted a large portion of his pumpkin green, his favorite color, before adding any others.
Drew took carving his pumpkin very seriously...he cleaned it out very thoroughly and planned out his face on paper before drawing it on his pumpkin to carve out.
Here is a video of Alden painting his pumpkin this year.
Alden saw the faces on Drew and my pumpkin and wanted to make sure his pumpkin had a face too.
Drew enjoying carving the pumpkin.
Anders had his own little mini pumpkin that he was perfectly happy just inspecting and playing with.
He played with his pumpkin for quite awhile. I thought it was really cute and I enjoyed watching him!
Once Alden was done with his pumpkin, he went over to watch Daddy carve his. Alden thought it was really neat to watch Daddy work.
Drew got to light his finished pumpkin outside. I thought he did a pretty good job.
Alden really liked seeing the pumpkin with a candle inside it.
These were the pumpkins that Alden and I decorated. I went really simple this year because I was helping Alden and I just wasn't feeling creative. This was a really fun family activity and it was fun to see Alden get really excited for Halloween.
