Winthrop - Pearrygin Lake State Park

We had a lot of fun taking a weekend trip up to the town of Winthrop in the northern part of Washington.  It was a beautiful area and a very nice little western style town that was really fun to explore.  We got there on a Saturday night and then just chilled in the hotel room watching a movie together.  Then next day we got up and went to church before heading out to Pearrygin Lake State Park to have a picnic lunch.

We had a lot of fun walking around and exploring the park.  There was almost no one else there which was nice.  We were able to find lots of different animals as we walked around including ducks, quail, squirrels, woodpeckers, a dragonfly and some other insects.  Alden thought that it was a lot of fun getting to see all the different animals.  I loved how beautiful the park was with all the fall colors on the trees!  It was a beautiful stop for our lunch and a little exploring before going to see the town.

Anders having fun rolling around and playing at the hotel.
Getting everything out for our lunch sandwiches.
The beautiful view we had of the lake while we ate our lunch.
The trees were beautiful with all the different colored leaves.
Alden and Drew had fun throwing a few leaves back and forth at each other.

Alden really enjoyed kicking the leaves around as he walked through them.

We went down to see the lake after we were done eating lunch and Alden was excited to find some ducks there.
They even came up on the shore and walked around while Alden watched/followed them.  We just had to make sure Alden knew not to chase the ducks.

Anders and I had a nice time sitting and enjoying the sunshine and the view.

Alden had fun following this little duck around while it looked for food.
Sorry the lighting is not very good, but you can see a whole bunch of quail here on the ground.  It was fun to be able to show them to Alden.
We also found a few squirrels in some trees and Alden had fun watching and listening to them with us.
We could walk out to the lake at one point on our walk and it was really pretty out there.

This was fun for Alden to get to see.  There was a woodpecker on this tree, as you can see on the left, but this squirrel came around and chased it away, as you can see on the right.
There were more quail inside this bush the Alden had fun listening to.

Drew found another squirrel for Alden to watch.  This one was working on eating it's nut in the tree.

Of course, we had to let Alden throw a few rocks in the water since he loves doing that so much!
Me and my little boys!  We had a wonderful time enjoying this state park and finding tons of critters!  This was a great lunch spot for us and a nice place to enjoy some fall colors.
