Cave and Basin National Historic Site at Banff

After visiting Johnson Lake we went over to the Cave and Basin National Historic Site where there was a visitor's center to explore and some trails to walk that were around thermal springs and wetlands.  It was a fun and different outing.  We got to see multiple animals along the trail, which Alden thought was cool, and we could keep Anders in the stroller which made him very happy.  Anders loves having time where he has more room to wiggle.

Alden was also excited because Grandpa helped him get his Explorers Award for the National Historic Site (like the Junior Ranger Program in the US).  When he finished the program he got a dog tag on a chain which he was so excited about!  He called it his "prize" and kept asking to wear it for the rest of the trip.  It was a fun little souvenir for him to earn and be able to take home.

Anders was so happy in the stroller and Alden was having a great time exploring and walking.

It was a very nice boardwalk trail past some of the streams from the thermal springs and over some wetlands.

This was inside the cave with the hot springs.  You can see Alden working on his Explorers program with Grandpa.  It was very smelly in there (like all hot springs) but Alden didn't seem to mind.
Grandma and Alden were looking for tiny little snails on the side of the hot springs.

Alden had a lot of fun exploring all the other things at the National Historic Site too.  He thought the tent set up was pretty cool and he really liked the bean bags inside.  It was a fun stop with lots of things to interest kids.

After we made it back to the hotel Drew was ready for a little rest time with Anders.  I think we were all ready for a little down time by this point because it had been a crazy busy trip, but it was worth it because we had seen so many cool things.
