They did have a Mario themed mini-golf course set up that we decided would be fun to do with Alden. My mom ended up staying in the hotel with Anders while we went so that they wouldn't be out in the smoke as much. The rest of us walked through part of Whistler to find the mini-golf. I think it would have been a much prettier walk if it had not been so smokey. You can see in the pictures that we really couldn't see the mountains that ski lifts in the area go to. However, Alden thought mini-golf was tons of fun!
After mini-golf we went back to the room for a bit before heading out to explore the town. We walked through town looking in some of the shops and looking for somewhere to eat dinner. We ended up eating at an urban taco place that was okay and then we got really yummy ice cream at a place called Cow's for desert. After that we were all ready to go back to the hotel and get out of the smoke. So, we went back to the hotel and played games while Alden went to bed.
This was our walk to mini-golf. This pictures don't do justice to how smokey the area was.
There is a big mountain in all that smoke, can you tell?
Getting ready to play our game of mini-golf. Alden really wanted to be Mario.
Alden did almost all his golfing on his own and he is getting better at not cheating. (He likes to pick up the ball and move it closer to the hole so that he can hit it in.)
My dad had the best game and besides Alden, I think I had the worst.
Alden did take help occasionally on harder courses, but mostly he wanted to be independent.
Resting in the room and getting a good drink of water before heading out again.
Alden was very happy to get some water after being out in the smoke.
We decided to double stroller it when we went out walking in Whistler so that Alden could rest.
Alden studying the map very closely.
Drew always enjoys looking around in hat stores.
I am not sure how this started but Alden started talking about how the bear says roar.
Alden was very cute saying roar and having other people say it.
This was our day in Whistler and we did end up having a good time even if it was smokey and we had a hard time breathing the air at times. We made good memories and enjoyed seeing a different town.
