This was the start to our two weeks of traveling and having fun. After having Drew gone for so much of the last year we really wanted to go on a fun trip as a family to celebrate being back together, so we planned a two week trip traveling through British Columbia and Alberta, Canada along with Glacier National Park in Montana. We were so excited to finally get on the road and get to our hotel in Vancouver. The first day of driving went fairly smoothly and our kids were well behaved but we were all ready to get out and stretch our legs by the time that we got to our hotel.
We went out to dinner at a Denny's so that Alden could have pancakes and then we went to a Fish Hatchery at Capilano River Regional Park. It was fun to walk around the hatchery and see it and all the baby fish. Alden thought it was really cool seeing the fish and watching them swim. After seeing the hatchery we decided to walk around the park a little and we found a trail that was marked really easy and so we figured we could take the stroller...that ended up being interesting. We did it but we had to carry the stroller up stairs and over bumps many times. However, it did end up being a very pretty little hike and a nice end to our first day of vacation.
Alden and Daddy enjoying being out of the car and getting dinner.
Alden wanted to look at everything at the fish hatchery. He found it very interesting.
This was just pretty.
This is the fish ladder that you can see into. There weren't any fish in there now but it was still cool to see.
Alden and Grandma getting to see all the baby fish.
This is the Capilano river which I thought was very pretty and clear.
Okay so this was Alden showing me how to swim like a fish. It was pretty funny so I had to get it on video.
It is a very short clip but at least you can see it.
The hatchery.
Alden didn't want to walk on the grates here so he went up on the hill around them and then got on Daddy's shoulders to see the river.
Starting off on our hike...It really did look stroller friendly to start.
It was so beautiful and peaceful in these woods.
Alden had to stop at every bridge and throw a rock in. This ended up becoming a normal part of our entire vacation.
The bridge and the beautiful view down.
This was one of the parts of the hike that was very not stroller friendly.
Grandpa had fun talking to Alden about the different layers in the rock and what they meant.
The park was very pretty and I am glad that we got to do our little walk.
Alden was tuckered out after a very long first day and crashed quickly. We all had a good first day of our trip and we were excited to go explore more.
