We mostly stopped in Kamloops so that we didn't have to do 10 hours of driving in a day but it was also nice to go to a Costco and Walmart to get food for some of our meals for the next few days. It was also really nice to get in the pool and start working on getting Alden less scared of the water. It was really nice that we were able to take Alden swimming almost everyday for the rest of the trip because he got so much more confident! In this post you can see where he started the trip in terms of his swimming abilities.
Anders and Grandma playing before leaving on the drive.
This is where we had to wait for a little bit. Luckily our wait was only 15-20 minutes and we used that time to get some snacks.
We even took Anders in the water. He is not scared of the water at all and is perfectly comfortable in it. Unfortunately this pool was rather cold, so he couldn't stay in it very long.
These pictures were from the pool in Vancouver. I took Alden swimming at the hotel there and it took me around 20 min to get him to go in the pool any further than this. Eventually I got him to hold on to me and I would spin around in circles across the pool. He thought that was fun but he would not let go of me at all unless we were at the steps.
When we first got to the pool in Kamloops Alden would only stand on the step again. He wouldn't get in further than this.
By the end of this pool visit we at least got him kicking but he was still gripping my arms very tightly and he would not put his face anywhere near the water. This was still a big improvement over the hotel in Vancouver.
Anders had fun just sitting outside the pool and making faces at Grandma.
We all had a lot of fun at the pool in Kamloops! I think Drew and I had just as much fun, if not more, than Alden!
